Dear all,

I have got PR last year. Now I am thinking to take my better half with me to Australia.
Please advise what are the various VISA options available.

She is professionally qualified so she will be looking for job as well.

Thanks in advance

Hi akajain,

since you have PR you could apply for a partner visa (309/100) for her. Note that she will most likely only get a provisional (309) visa first. I you are still married/together after two years she will get PR. The provisional visa allows her to work and study in Australia plus she can also enroll in Medicare.

Alternatively she could also apply for a skilled migration visa (189/190/489) herself, if her occupation is on one of the skilled occupation lists and if she can pass the points test. There are quite a few other (mostly temporary) visa options as well but these are not as attractive in this case because she has no guarantee to get PR afterwards.

Cheers,
Monika
