I popped into my local Shoreline (Palm Jumeirah) watering hole this evening to find that prices had gone up. A pint of Tiger beer now dhs37, was dhs33 (+12%), and in happy hour now dhs25, was dhs20 (+25%).

I'm told this is in response to a new 11% municipality tax.

What's this all about then?

I imagine its got more to do with trying to claw back some of the subsidy for the Friday offers and the nightly happy hours that they now have....
