Just wanted to know if anyone has some direction for us. My husband has an Australian passport (dual US/Oz). He was the son of an Australian war bride, so is a citizen. He has lived in the USA since age 6. We have been married 9 years and I am 59 years old. He is retired and ready to move, and I was thinking to work in Australia (my field is construction) for a few more years until I retire. Now I see you cannot immigrate if over age 50, and if you have a retirement visa you can only work 20 hours. Is that correct? I'm wondering if I would be allowed to become a permanent resident without the $500k requirement. Anyone know what would be required of me (or us) in order to live in Australia in our golden years? Any comments would be much appreciated!

As your partner is an Australian citizen he can sponsor you for a partner visa - which does not have any age, work or finance requirements. If you apply from the US the correct subclass is 309. This is the first document you need to read: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1127.pdf

No worries. Actually you'd be entitled to a subclass 100 permanent partner visa (the same one I have!) as you have been married for more than three years. May your application run smooth.
