Just read in the local Spanish paper today that they have found Aujeszky's disease in wild boar in the Sierra Espuna. As this is transferrable to dogs and cats, I would be very careful if you walk your dogs in this area (Totana, Alhama etc) as your dog may find a virus filled (herpes virus) snack to eat as the disease causes sows to abort. It is also known as Pseudorabies as the symptoms are similar ie. frothing at the mouth, nervousness, disorientation and death.

Best to muzzle them when walking, to stop them rooting, unless there is some medication available that will repel the disease.
