Hi All,

I am thinking about the possibility of getting NZ PR by holding the AU PR.

I read from the below link that in NZ, you can apply to become PR once you got your NZ resident visa with you for 2 yrs.

I wonder if I land NZ with AU PR, does it court as having a valid resident visa? Does that mean i can get NZ PR if i hold AU PR and have been living in NZ for 2 years?

Thanks.

As an AUS PR holder you can travel to NZ and assuming you declare your intentions are to live and work here you will be given NZ RV with immediate expiry should you leave. If you then subsequently stay for a full 2 years you can then apply for NZ PR by satisfying the condition that you have (a) held RV for a minimum of 2 years, and (b) have spent at least 184 days in NZ in each of the previous 2 years prior to applying for PR.

Just be aware that if you leave NZ when holding RV the visa will expire as soon as you exit. You can get back in again so long as your AUS PR remains valid but the clock for NZ PR starts again.
