Hi everyone, I was trying to fill out form online to apply for my provisional driving license but I see they ask for previous address which has been India because it hasn’t more than 3 months since I’m here and I need to set up my bank account etc and the banks been asking for address proof and for that I’m applying for provisional driving license as they agreed to accept that. So in the form I don’t see option to put in country just post code and house number so what should I do? Put same uk address even though I have been living here for 3 months? Thank you for reading my post and for your replies [emoji846][emoji846]

I have been living here for 3 months
I don't understand your problem and these statements are contradictory. How long have you been living in the UK?

You don't need to have lived here 3 months to get a provisional licence. They ask for all your addresses (UK and foreign) over the last 3 years

I added my name to my husband’s council tax and gas bill to get address proof

Both were straightforward - is this an option for you?

I got my national insurance (NI) number next and then applied to add my name to his bank account (bank had needed proof of my tax status and NI number)

I know that you need to be resident in the UK for 185 days to sit for the driving test. Not sure about provisional

I remember filling up a paper form for my provisional from the post office as I wasn’t eligible for the online form

My passport is in my maiden name and DVLA wanted my BRP card and marriage certificate along with the application

They returned my documents and I got my provisional quite quickly

Thanks for replies everyone.. I was able to apply for provisional license before I ignored that it had option to choose non GB address for previous address. No I couldn’t go for council tax as it’s on my husband’s mum name and to open an account in bank they needed address proof so I chose to apply for provisional driving license. I’m suppose to get form posted to my address and fill it up and send it back with my brp. I hope they will safely send my brp card after verifying. Do they return it safely? Again thanks for your comments. [emoji846]

Hi

I sent my original passport, BRP and UK marriage certificate with my paper application

I also included a stamped, self-addressed special delivery envelope (the silver one from the post office) for my documents to be returned to me

Take a picture of the tracking code on the envelope before sending it

I got my documents back in 7 days

The licence arrived soon after by normal post

Hi, So what kind of envelope should I ask for at post office? Do I need to send envelope inside envelope? I got the form today to fill up and send back with ID.
