Hi everyone.

Apologies for starting yet another health insurance thread ...

Prior to spending thousands on our health insurance for VLS-TS application purposes, I wondered if anyone had any thoughts about ACS-ami or even any firsthand experience:

Their policies look pretty good on paper & they say that they're good for visa purposes. The quote for us both comes out at about 2500 euro as opposed to the almost 4000 euro for a policy from Fab Insurance (I know lots of people recommend Fabien). Obviously it would be a big cost-saving but is it too good to be true? It would only be for 12 months so we'd obviously have to go with another provider for renewal purposes.

Would be so grateful for any thoughts from anyone with a bit more knowledge than me (which is pretty much everyone here :D).

Thanks so much, Pip

Why won't you be joining the French Health Service PUMA as soon as you can ?
If you are resident here (in France) I thought it was compulsory.
Hi Sue. I don't think it's compulsory to join CPAM (we will though) - I think as early-retirees you can continue with private insurance if you prefer. This is for our initial application though - just wanted to see whether ACS-ami will suffice otherwise we'll go with Fab Insurance.

Thanks, Pip

When you say "Fab insurance" I think you know that Fab is a broker and has many policies from many suppliers. In fact, I think Fab can write you a policy with ACS-ami if you wish (Fab offered them to me a year ago but their ENP policy was too weak for an oldie like me).

As I said before, I don't have any experience with ACS-ami, but I thought their offerings for people under 60 looked pretty good. Of course, you are only going to get what's in their terms and conditions, AT BEST.
