Hi I've been living in the UK for the past 3 years with my partner and I'm due to start university in September, unfortunately I've been passed from pillar to post in regards student finance, the rules now state that you must be ordinarily resident in the UK for 5 years in order to apply for maintenance otherwise you will be classed as an EU student and will be entitled to no maintenance, however one advisor has told me I'm entitled to the same funding as a home student because I'm from the republic of Ireland and that students from Ireland have home status for the purpose of fees, but then another advisor has told me no, in fact I'm to be classed as an EU student, is there any Irish students in the UK who could offer advise on this? And if indeed I'm not entitled to maintenance is there any other available out there for me to try? Cheers
