Well, you can't expect a bank to maintain a loss-making branch for such a small number of customers - even one that's received billions of euros' worth of public money. It's not a social service.

There is a post office on the island apparently, so I guess the islanders will have to use the Banco Correos instead. And Bankia have said they will leave an ATM on the island.
