Hi, first time poster, longtime reader.

My family and I are relocating to the uk in jan. we have been in contact witty various companies and recruiters for work. Our expectant salary levels are £65k and £55k respectively and have been told that we will get this. The concern is that our savings isn't strong due to my wife being on maternity leave for the past 9 months. We are applying for the visa in november. Should we document that the reason for the smaller savings is due to maternity leave and could this affect us. We will have approx $10k for application and about $10k when we leave in jan (family of four...2 young kids under 5).

It is such a grey area on finance

There is no financial requirement as such for ancestry visa - just that you are able and willing to work, so you simply submit details of your current job, your qualifications and experience. You don't need a job already lined up in UK. Lack of savings isn't a factor though you are expected to have some cash on arrival to keep you going until your first pay, like £3,000.
