I am considering a job that is located in London. Can anyone advise on what areas of London are affordable (but still safe, not too busy/noisy)?

What is your budget? London is 659 square miles. Central London is expensive. The farther away you get from Zone 1 and 2 the less expensive things get but housing in still going to be pretty costly.

It depends on where in London the job is - travelling can be expensive too

Where in London is the job?

Commuting can be expensive so no good advising living in Richmond if the job is to the east of London.

That's a very expensive area. Anywhere along the Jubilee Line would be worth a look. I'd look at somewhere like Kingsbury, Queensbury and Canons Park (quite suburban), or nearer, Neasden, Doris Hill and Willesden (down at heel, cosmopolitan). West Hampstead used to be good, but has become quite expensive.
