HI everyone,
I am turning to you guys to see what you did in the expat situation with renting.
I am french, but coming back from a 6 years stay in the US.
We are working on our business as AE but also have a company in the US.
So.. we have no paystubs...My parents are all good to be "caution" for renting.

We saw this great house in a village, and I am wondering.. How did any of you secure renting?
We have a year rent set aside, and I know others have gone the escrow way. But I am worried about doing that and being stuck if the landlord is bad, or the property not as advertised once we move in and we just have to stay because of the escrow,. I would rather not do that.

How does that usually work?
I know that if worse comes to worse with a place, usually I can give my 3 months notice. But what if I have a year rent in escrow for the rent? What happens to the money?

This is really a question of getting approved for the rental. Because we have the money, intend on paying rent and have family members being guarantor as well. I am willing to do what I need to do, since I am in good faith about paying rent .

I have friends who were in a similar situation with a new business, but they had history "quittance de loyer" and we cant really get that since we were in the states..'Credit is also of no use here..

Any idea?

One more thought. I thought about offering to pay extra so the owner could suscribe an assurance loyer impayes but I am afraid they are going to be suspicious that I am planning on not paying rent or something.. I just want to make sure we can find a nice place and rent it. I know how hard it can be. It is so frustrating when you know you can and will pay the rent.
