The removed occupations posted in DIBP website are for visa 186 (Employer Sponsorship). So, I just ran Excel based on my record of last MLTSSL for visa 189 which is stored in my computer and the new MLTSSl from IMMI 17/072, and here is result

I have not kept the STSOL for last time, but I see that many have been removed from STSOL such as chemist, statistician, etc.
Please note that there are two legislations IMMI 17/072 for visa 189/190 and IMMI 17/080 for 186/457, and they are quite different, so check your visa type accordingly.

Your occupation is now only applied for visa 186 which is sponsored by employer. That means the point test system is nothing at here, rather than the approval from employer i.e. an university in Australia.
Did you receive any invitation for visa 189/190 through EOI? If you never receive invitation, then change your occupation, if you want to migrate by visa 189/190.
