I've been in Perth for 5 months and have got a good group of friends. It is quite common when we are out to have people on their own just strike a conversation with us and ending up joining the group for a few drinks.

I agree with Naoto as well. I've done a bit of volunteer work and met a few people that way. You can also go jogging or take up any other activity. Once you start going regularly, the other regulars will recognise you and you can make friends that way.
