Our 457 was lodged on the 2nd April in Australia and thought it takes 2 to 3 weeks but I phoned UK immigration office for aus and they said it takes 2 months. Is this true?

So does that mean if our 457 was lodged on 2 April that the sponsoring company has done everything it needs to.

Not necessarily. You can lodge your 457 visa application in parallel to the company's nomination application. However, your 457 will not be approved until such time that the nomination has been approved.

Sometimes, if you're really lucky, DIAC will approve both the 457 and the nomination on the same day.

Also, different processing centres have different processing rates. Some centres are more busy than others and therefore it will take them longer to work their way through the volume of applications.
