Hi All,

I just had a few questions about the 2nd year working holiday visa, here is my story;

I arrived in Australia in Nov 2012 and was based in Perth. I spent the first 5 months trying to get placed in the mining industry without success whilst freelancing as a photographer to earn my keep and pay for food etc. (registered my own abn etc as a freelance photographer).

I gave up on the mining industry as I knew I was starting to cut it close to get my regional work done, knowing that I wanted to stay another year here. After a bit of searching and putting myself out there on gumtree etc, I managed to get a job pruning grape vines in a regional zone.

I did 6 weeks there and the opportunity arose to go to Tasmania to do volunteer work with a non-profit organisation, doing conservation work.

I have spent the last 8 weeks here, clearing land, plating trees, weeding, building/repairing fences in fire affected areas in Tassie.

Before I came over to Tasmania to undertake this work I was re-assured by the NPO that this work counted towards regional work due to the fact that the whole state is a regional zone. Is this correct?

There were obviously a few days in these last 8 weeks where I was just in the office helping out with admin stuff and I.T related problems while there was no conservation work to be done. Can these days still be counted towards regional work?

I am so confused as to all this specified work and regional work stuff. I really am struggling to get my head around it and I am starting to worry about my application for the 2nd year visa. I have done the utmost to my knowledge to stay within the guidelines to regional specified work but I think on paper it will look strange.

I am going back to the vineyard to do a further 4 weeks there anyway. However, doing some maths and not including weekends (do weekends count?) - the farm work would total only 70 days. With the conservation work in Tassie, I would have a total of 108 days, possibly more before i finish here.

I guess I am just looking for reassurance that I am still within the guidelines and I am A-OK to continue on to fill in my 2nd year application form. I am just unsure how to do it all.

If it turns out that the conservation work I have done here does not fit in to regional specified work, what are my options? I will be about 18 days short of my 88 days and my time will have run out on my visa.

This is all such a stress! :(

Ok so i guess i ran out of time to edit my post as I could edit this one;

In that case. Could a moderator or admin delete this thread and I will start a new one?
