Default Fishing in TOMAR area

A keen angler, moving to the Tomar area, any recommendations on where to fish and what to expect. What fish are caught there. Any trout fly fishing in the area or close by ?

Hi

I'm just arrived too and searching for fishing spots. Coarse or fly for me. The Naboa river (which flows through Tomar) looks tasty both above and below the City, but I havent been able to get any more info yet.

The Zezere is where everyone directs you, and I know there are day boats to be hired at some of the river beaches. I've seen carp, eaten the freshwater Bass and understand there are perch, zander and pike to be had, as well as barbel and other silver fish. No sign of trout in the lakes though, and everyone fishing seem to spin with formidable looking tackle!

I understand that the trout are up North in the Mondego and Douro tributaries.

Incidentally, an estate agent told me about the 65th Coarse Angling World Championships being held here (well Montemor-o-Velho to be precise) which is on the also tasty looking Mondego river on the 3rd to 9th September. I'm going in the hope of finding out more info. They have a good website.

Good luck with your search
