Hi, I'm Steven and my wife and I are looking long term in moving to Portugal to retire, I hope in 5 years time I know that is a long way away but it can soon creep up. We thing we will be looking for property from the Evora southwards.
I have had a quick look at property all over but I notice that it seems VERY cheep the further north you go! is there a reason for this?

I / We will have a lot more questions so will be on here a lot I.

Steven

HI, looking to move to Portugal in the next year. Looking forward to hearing from people who have made the move and to picking up some useful information.

Smile Hello from Alamo

Hello All,
Chris and Angie here. We sailed our boat from the UK to Alamo on the banks of the Guadiana where we are now making our home. It is beautiful here but a little quiet... We would love to meet new friends in the area of VRSA/Castro Marim/Monte Gordo etc. Our short term objectives are to learn Portuguese and meet with convivial folk whose interests extend beyond drinking and eating (although we do our fair share of both). Angie is artistic and Chris is more of a technologist but we are both practical, can-do people. Longer-term we intend to spend more time sailing the Atlantic islands and Meditteranean from our base in Alamo.
Please let us know of any expat groups in the area. Our interests range from sailing to learning ballroom dancing but we would be pleased to start with the odd coffee morning.
All the best
