Default Car Rental Questions

I am a US citizen who is returning to live in the states. I have had driving licenses in two states in the past, but they have expired. I have a UK driving license that is current. I am curious how I can go about renting a car in NH when I land.

My UK license will have my old rental address on it which won't be valid anymore, my old US driving licenses obviously aren't valid anymore, and I won't yet have taken the driving test in NH. Do I just have to use a taxi until I pass the test or is there some grace period?

Hopefully someone has been through this before and can shed some light on how this all works. Thanks!

It shouldn't be a problem. I've rented cars numerous times on arrival in the US using my French license with my French address. They may ask you for a contact address in the US (i.e. in the state where you're renting the car) and definitely a contact phone number. (I've given them the address and phone of the hotel where I was staying.)

Technically speaking, if you are settling in a state, you normally have between 10 and 30 days to exchange your license (or get a local license if you don't have exchange privileges). https://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/...y/transfer.htm and I see they give you 60 days for transfering a license from another state.

From what I can tell, New Hampshire doesn't have reciprocity on driving licenses with the UK (though they do with France).
