There is no need to "solemnise" a marriage in the US. (Nor even to "register it.")

Your friend will need to have an official copy of whatever marriage certificate is issued in Kenya - possibly apostilled or otherwise "certified" as to its authenticity - to prove your friend's status. But that probably would have been the case for her to get whatever visa she is currently in the US on. (Assuming she is in the US at present.)

Default Kenyan we a USA citizen

A Kenyan friend of mine got married to a US citizen in Kenya. Unfortunately he (the US citizen ) took ill and returned to USA where he passed away before their marriage was solemnised in the USA court. Is their marriage in Kenya, with a Kenyan marriage certificate accepted in America? Any help please?

OK that sounds helpful. It's a little messy as he was entered as Divorced on the death certificate by the person who registered the death, in an attempt to write the lady from Kenya out of the estate, despite the fact they had been married for 2+ years

This should walk her through. She will have to get her documents in order.
