Default US visit Visa

Hi all,
I am a UK citizen and have had immense help from the UK forum hence I felt I could rely on your advice/guidance for one of my friends' situation who ( family of 3) applied for US visit Visa to visit their eldest sister few months back and have an appointment scheduled on 12th of July.
Now, my friend's husband is unable to accompany her neither wants to go. My friend doesn't want to lose the money paid and wanted to know if she can attend the interview with her 5 year old daughter? She has her file ready for the appointment and doesn't want to lose the chance as she hasn't met her sister since 4 years.
Your advice will be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance

She can attend an interview just for herself and daughter.

Thank you so much for the response. I'll pass on this to her.
