Default Removal firms

We have had quotation from a local removal firm (Norfolk) to move all our furniture and belongings to Spain (Malaga region). The quotation was for 6k and we wondered if this is similar quotation of what others have experienced. The contents are from a 2 bedroom bungalow with garage items.

Kind regards
Paul

Do you know if they are taking your load direct or will they group it up with other loads. It makes a big difference in price and time taken. It's worth checking as I have known people sitting in empty houses for many weeks waiting for their stuff to arrive.

We went for a shared load as it was much cheaper, luckily the vendors of our house were ditching a very old pair of settees and a couple of single beds so we made do for the 2 weeks we waited for our stuff to arrive. We paid 3k for a 3 bedroom house and garage full of stuff. We did think of hiring a van and driving, but loading and unloading all that stuff, driving all that way and finding secure overnight parking, cost of ferries, petrol etc. made us rethink that option

It was worth every penny to have a couple of strong young blokes to unload everything. We had bought a new super kingsize bed just before we left the UK and the mattress must weigh 100kg, we can't turn it so have to wait for the parasites (sorry I meant children) to visit to turn the mattress.

We were quoted almost 8000 for a 2 bed bungalow, garage contents and 3 motorbikes. In the end we bought a 7.5 ton lorry with tail lift, used it as storage whilst we were in a rented house in UK and brought it over on Brittany ferries. It saved us over 4000 in transport costs and we have just sold it so got some money back.

I would suggest, just like almost any other service or purchase, that you shop around.

I did that in U.K and saved 50% on, the same funeral, for my brother. Had not the coroners officer suggest it I would accepted the first quote.

Good luck with the move

The company we used was White and Company. We were very pleased with the service they provided, we got many quotes but they were the only comply who sent a chap to do a survey and provide a proper quote. They were more expensive than some and cheaper than others, online reviews of companies can be useful (I usually ignore the top and bottom 20%) and many of the cheaper company reviews filled us with fear for our stuff!
