Insurance for Sub Sahara region - Travel/Work

Hi everyone,

I will soon be moving from London to Joburg to start work on an ICT visa. I will be based in Joburg but travelling over the Sub Saharan region.

What is the best travel/work insurance solution? Should I get a policy that considers me to be a UK citizen on long-term travel? Or must I get specific expat/work-based travel insurance?

World Nomads offer two comprehensive policies for 'Africa' at between 350-465 depending on level of cover but at an average of 35/month it seems expensive.

Am I better off with generic worldwide travel insurance while being mindful of the countries that such policies exclude? Or is there something more specific to my move and requirements?

Thanks all,

Marc
