For us, Canada has a very good reputation.

Some of my family members and many friends I know either are studying there or live there, for the reasons you stated above. Every country has its bad and good sides, but most if not all Canadians I've met here and elsewhere are pretty cool people.

I think Canada has succeeded in promoting itself as the most "peaceful" country in the world or something. I know, however, political-wise, it is slowly starting to lose its popularity .. lol

May visit one day... although I don't know if it is "healthy" going straight from Dubai to Canada .... or vice versa.... I mean, temperature-wise, it'd be kindda body-shock experience.... lol

Among most Bangladeshis who look to emigrate, Canada is seen as a less desirable option than the US. For every one that dreams of migrating to Canada , there will be 10 others dreaming of the USA.

Personally i think Canada is better than the USA as far as healthcare and social support is concerned, the US still beats it in most other areas such as better education, far better weather, far more opportunities for advanced professionals, lower taxes etc

I think you're probably right. Stephen Harper has managed to do that. It seems clear that he really doesn't understand world issues & it shows
