There is a bigger incentive for them to change the note - otherwise you get the goods for free!
In the UK, many places in England and Wales refuse to accept Scottish or Northern Irish bank notes - i always used those in the same manner.
Once, in a petrol station, i put 20 worth of fuel in my car and went to pay with a Scottish note. The cashier refused to take it claiming that it was not legal tender in England. I purposely had left my wallet at home and gave them the choice of take it or leave it - they took the note!
I use the same principle here and relish the chance to hand over large notes - its our way of getting back at the lousy service we receive here from establishments!!

It's not even legal tender in Scotland

When you try to help a member and they're just "Whatever" I'm so glad she won't get a job teaching my son.

Kids eh?

Can someone explain Kris Fade to me?

He's all over every newspaper I open, every billboard I drive past, my Facebook timeline every time I log in, I half expect him to be sitting on my toilet when I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

But why? What's the appeal? Why would anyone want to go to an event so they could meet him?

I genuinely don't understand.

If anyone knows who is responsible, can you ask them to make it stop?

Loss of cat prompts call for better care for animals in transit | The National

Judging from the photo of the pet carrier, I'd say that cat isn't just lost, it's probably crushed.

Apparently, this happened at the airport in the US - the land of tort suits. I'm guessing a large settlement is in the works.

Let's hope there is a large settlement paid. Not that it does replace a beloved pet but perhaps it will teach airport staff to be more careful going forward.

Hair today, gone tomorrow: 13 Abu Dhabi salons fined | The National

What the hick did I just read???

"Zulzar Ahmed, 30, a barber from Pakistan, was fined Dh500 for not keeping his shop clean.

This is the second time that Ive been fined for this, he said. Im glad that it wasnt a more serious offence that would risk the health of my clients.

Were used to the cleanliness fine. They issue those all the time. Its a hard offence to prove. A few hairs on the ground warrants that fine. I do keep the store clean to the best of my ability, but I guess we have to be very diligent with our care.

This is yucky but... if the cat had been crushed, wouldn't it still be there... or there would at least be signs of that happening?
