My brother is in Dubai for a visit. he used his passport to enter Dubai, exit and went to Kuyath and then came back to Dubai. He got a Taiwanese visa. on his way to Taiwan, he was detained at the airport in Dubai.
The immigration told him that the passport is a valid passport but it is not his passport. He was detained for one month. After finding out that he is the legitimate owner of the passport he is asked to pay a fine of $3000 for the overstay in their custody. His Taiwanese visa is already expired, lost his flight tickets and his hotel reservations. He didn't return home to work on time.
What advice will you give

Go see your Embassy/Consulate but to be honest, don't expect much response from the UAE authorities here.

If it really was his passport, his embassy would have verified it within days - not one month.

Are you sure that is all the story ?
