1. The new name works for me.
2. American Language Police? They exist?
3. I am okay with 'Folk'
4. That is all.

We did use to have restaurant nights out every so often. Seems no posters been doing much of anything lately.

Had a few book club get togethers, but that hasnt been posted about in a long time.

There was an artsy club as well that was tried to get together, but none of that group has posted much later.

No one has tried a kindle book loan thing so ???

What does tend to happen though is that everyone will say they want to do something, want to meet people, want to get out....

AND NO ONE SHOWS UP
.
1. Why are you double-spacing your posts?
2. That is the Dubai way.... meet people, get their number, never call...
3. To loan a kindle book you need the other person's kindle account email and then you just loan them the book via Amazon.... or you can just grab the ebook via online sources and not bother with loans.

I READ A LOT as well, almost a book every other day (i kid you NOT)
I guess I will try and post an event (what have I got to lose, I have no friends here yet)

I was a lawyer in NYC (ok now I realize no one will ever come to an event or respond to me) but I AM REFORMED-- I am enjoying my life and just want to have some fun.

I will post an event and hope some one will show up (stranger things have happened)

Thanks!
That will make you a lot of friends...
I am just joking with ya... don't get all mad/upset.

I definitely don't have time to read on the Kindle as much as you, but a book / week is the average so MIGHT be interested in the Kindle book club - but not sure if others would be interested in my boring book choices.
Wow, you still read more than most! I know I'm so decadent, but as I said I am enjoying every minute of this leisure time after burning out in NYC at the soul-sucking LAW FIRM.
I have diverse reading interests, I read a lot of fiction, some science fiction, and a lot of non-fiction. ( to give you an idea of my boring choices recently read Steve Jobs, Daniel Kahneman's Thinking Fast, Julian Barnes' Sense of an Ending and Stephen King's 11/23/63 and several others) So I am open to pretty much anything, and will read anything. (yes I read Grisham's Litigators a few days ago, I was hoping he was getting back to his roots)

Well, if you are interested let me know, suggest a book!

LOL I rarely get upset I thought your post was funny.
So is it also the dubai way to repsond to posts and then not actually be interested in anything about the post
As for double-spacing-- habit from writing, i'll try to stop it here

Not THE FIRM in NYC As you could probably tell, we are enjoying the show at the moment.

Some matches there so it could probably work. However, I still haven't figure out how to lend books to other Kindle users - other than sharing my Amazon account info like with other Kindles in the family.

it's fairly easy to do-- just need the kindle info, and we can lend books for up to 2 weeks-

also if you're a prime member, there are several books that amazon will loan you for a month for free (kindle lending library).

so let me know if you're interested!!!! You can pick the first book, and we can just post it on the forum, and see if people will join or show up etc.
