Just to let you all know I haven't forgotten my little project.

Stage 1 & 2 are now organised, translated, checked by lawyers & ready to go but I'll only launch the project when it's ready in it's entirety.

with luck, we'll hit them like an exocet missile!

It's like the apocalypse in Coimbra today. I live on a hilltop just outside the city and we are surrounded by fires. The sky is black and when we can see the sun it is bright orange. Ashes are falling like snow so we have to keep all the doors and windows shut. The situation is so bad that, due to a lack of resources, many of the fires are being left to burn themselves out. We have just heard that two houses were gutted in Ançã with not one bombeiro in sight. That is not intended as criticism. The poor devils are being run ragged and we have said that sometime soon, something will break. I think that time may be upon us.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that an arsonist was caught by residents and is now in a coma. Not sure that I agree with mob rule but I can totally understand how they feel.

Unfortunately, our comms went down just as the MEO engineers were knocking off for the weekend, so we are without a landline, TV or Internet until Monday. Not much I can do on this mobile connection but will try to post photos when we get back on line.

Did PT get around to reconnecting you yet TM?

You're a star as always TM and we appreciate your kind offer. We're house sitting at the moment back where they have already had two bad fires in the last three weeks. We've just popped over to check progress as there was yet another bad one when we were there earlier. The hills are alive with the sound of two tones and the hill tops are well alight, but thankfully some distance away now.

Cool Tina Forshaw

As you seem to have a couple of people up to date with Fire legislation , I was wondering if anyone has information about new regulations regarding camping pods, yurts, cabins etc having to be moveable ( ie mounted on wheeled chassis) in the event of fire. Thanks in advance

I think you're referring to land designations & I don't expect that to change any time soon if only for pollution issues to say nothing of rescue issues.

Folks

Just to let you know I haven't forgotten this........ As they say, vengeance is a dish best eaten cold.

Right now I'm waiting for the full details of the fire report that was handed to the President just today amongst other things & right now, it's not looking exactly accurate.

Thanks for the update TM. I did see on the 1pm news that the final report had been released. What in particular are you concerned about regarding accuracy?
