Default discount for one way ticket?

In the PR grant letter files, I've read somewhere that there is a chance for a discounted one way plane ticket, does anybody know anything about it?

IOM offers one-way concession fares to new skilled migrants travelling to Australia. See here for more information: IOM Australia Site

The fares are not always competitive price-wise with what you'd find if you did some searching on your own, but sometimes they offer additional baggage allowance so it's worth checking to see what they have to offer.

Thanks Ozbound. I usually use kayak.com to find the cheapest/most convenient flight possible. I don't have a lot of baggage, so I'm after the discounted rate of it's possible. I'll check it out

I have been in touch with IOM and they have requested further information before giving me a quote, which I have provided. I hope to hear from them soon. The most affordable quote I have ( and was almost paying) is from expedia.com. Surprisingly, IOM baggage allowance in 40kg, and the carrier I got on expedia offere 46kg. The begs the question how much cheaper should IOM be for the them to be acceptable given they offer less baggage allowance.I will do the math when i finally get the IOM quote.

Hi tenten,

it can take IOM a while to negotiate a counter-offer. We got basically the same price as the cheapest flight we found online, but with extra baggage allowance and from a better airline (i.e. Emirates instead of BA) as well. While we did not save any money, we were glad to have better service and more space. You should definitely inform them about the expedia offer so than can negotiate a comparable package .

Cheerio,
Monika

After what seemed like eternity, IOM have confirmed that they cannot make and equal of better offer that Expedia.com. Not only is their baggage allowance smaller, their quote is 30% higher, and that is before i factor in their processing fee.Their reason - the first leg of my flight is covered by airlines they do not have agreements with. Strange considering the first leg is only a 2 hour flight compared with a 13 hour second leg.

Anyway - its settled. I'll use SAA (South African Airways) and will be landing in Sydney on the 19th of this month courtesy of Expedia.com.
