It looks like we're in for another President Clinton then.

Well thank heavens we now know we won't get Boris for pm. There is hope for the world after all.

It was a fait accompli - BoJo has developed the larger-than-life lovable buffoon persona to such an extent that he saw the utter futility of even attempting to "be a prime minister". He can make far more money just doing his thing (columns/photo-ops/soundbites/books/etc) - I mean, the man has paid a £million in tax since 2012, and you have to imagine he's pretty sharp with what actually makes its way to HMRC's coffers.

Nah - it wasn't the party that persuaded him to duck out - it was a good business sense - PM carries too much baggage and takes away too much £££-earning potential.

Guy's a cuddly Machiavellian genius.

...and a bike-riding superhero, don't forget!

Plus the fact that he's had a word and found out the level of support he might get from the Conservative Remainers he peed off.

I for one will be glad to see him back on Have I Got News For You where I always find him a hilarious host.

I also admire how he has stage managed the announcement showing a lot more integrity than Corbyn who has now become a huge embarrassment to the Labour party and himself.

I must agree and admit that his stints on Have I Got News For You are the reason I don't want him to become PM. It would be a major loss to show business.

I'm sooooo looking forward to his next appearance.

EDIT : Meant to say - yes, the announcement was just the right side of melodrama. "Punchline" indeed, Boris, you old ham.
