    Hi,

I have been following Expat forum, its really good and appreciated for your energetic replies towards expat postings.

I have got ITA for residence under SMC, currently my application is under process, i would like to ask couple of question which i feel tricky and your response would be highly appreciated and i would love to see your response so that i can prepare myself.

    FAQ's in Immigration interview.

    1. What do you think about the impact of migrants on the socio-economic balance of New Zealand and the wider South West Pacific basin?
    2. Do you have any questions?
    3. What wages do you expect?
    4. What do you plan to do, if you do not find the right job in your industry?
    5. How will you build up your social networks and get new friends?
    6. What have you done to secure employment so far?

Please share your views on this matter.

    Appreciated your help.

    Hi ferdousbhuiya,
No not strictly. Looking for work or attempting to get a job offer isn't the normal itinerary of a visitor. A visitor visa is for people who want to come to NZ to travel, visit, sample the culture etc. It does allow "business consultations", however these are usually where that pre-arranged meeting is a small part of the trip and has been declared to Immigration beforehand or as part of the visa application process.
As a visitor you must meet the requirements of good health, good character, have a visa intended for purpose and be a bona fide visitor. You also must meet other obligations with evidence that you intend to leave by having onward travel arrangements and sufficient funds to cover all of your expenses on the trip.
Just click on the immigration NZ website and select "Visit".

    Hi ferdousbhuiya,
Many ways to show the required standard of English. IELTS minimum 6.5 overall the most popular.
If you cannot provide this then all other methods are at the discretion of Immigration. It is a risk you take if you wish to go down this route. In my opinion the fact that your mother language is Bengali and your wife is fluent in Hindi and Urdu only shows your partner does not meet and is unlikely to meet the necessary standard of English.

With 125 points and no job offer you are eligible to apply, however the EOI will not get selected. You'll need 140 + to guarantee selection without a job offer.

You could register with a recruitment agent but in all honesty without you being here and without the right to work here they aren't going to spend a lot of time trying to get you a job offer.

    Remaining from the first msg.

Without claiming my wife's point my total point will be 125. I think without any job offer i cannot submit my EOI. If you have any idea please share with me. Is there any recruiting agency in NZ they can arrange one job offer for me. Any how i want to move from here. In UAE we are in critical position. As a Bangladeshi we cannot change our visa in UAE. I am an Electrical Engineer.
    My points are like this:
Age: 20 (after September 2015 it will be 10)
    Qualification: 50
    Bonus of qualification: 10
    Experience: 30
    Bonus of experience: 15

    Total : 125

Sorry for disturb you. I am waiting for your valuable reply and help.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best Regards

    Hi Escapedtonz,
Thanks a lot for your replies.
I cannot claim points for my partner's qualification if she doesn't meet the "minimum standard of English" But for minimum standard they mentioned that they will consider other factors such as "other countries in which you have lived, other languages you speak and your family's English skills".

Can we use this tool? As we are from Bangladesh our mother language is Bengali. Now we are living in UAE. There are so many Indian and Pakistani families are here. My wife can speak in Hindi and Urdu.
Is it possible to use this, if possible how can we proof?

    Continued in next message.

    Hi Escapedtonz,

Hope you are doing good ! I have a qq, if you can help me with this regarding SFV 2014.

I seem to have been able submit the online application and pay the fee for the SFV visa 2014, which opened up today 10:00 AM NZT. I am not very sure, if i am really selected since after many hung browser sessions finally could complete my application only at 11:00 AM with the payment. I have received a mail from them with the docs needed to be submitted.

Hoping i am through the first step of selection.

    Thanks a lot !

    Hi Roysten,
I'd apply for a new passport now, if what you have read is true. You can either wait for the new passport then enter the details on a new EOI, so wait until you have the new passport before submission or submit EOI now with the old passport details and update as necessary at a later date.

    Hi Escapetonz,

I have a hand written passport that is valid for 20 years. I read it recently on the India Passport portal that, hand written passports are valid only till 2015 November.

Currently I am going to apply for PAR. Should i parrellely apply for a new passport or do you suggest i wait for the EOI to complete and then apply for a new passport?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Roysten

Thanks for the info regarding the mortgage broker (I couldn't see a reply button to respond directly to you). I actually have a mortgage broker who has been recommended to me but was interested to know of others experiences with them. Do you have any advice of whether it would be necessary (or good) to use one. Thanks :)

Some consultant show me the Diploma in Business Accounting 2 yrs in which I get exemption of 1 yr from Concordia Institute of Business. Should I go for such polytechnic type education or enroll in University? Do these polytechnics hv decent value similar to Uni.? I am in accounting field so how r the job prospects and should I go for Uni or some Institute like National Tertiary Education Consortium which is the mother of above said institute?
