hello Mike,

It depends on how much money you want to spend. Can't go wrong with Marco Polo. I have stayed in that hotel before on other island. I have stayed at the Montebello Villa before in Cebu City. It is very nice. they are known for their flower gardens. Very nice. More of a personal place then a hotel.

When I stayed in Marco Polo in Davao city I paid I think $72 special. When I was in Montebello I paid like $52. I liked Montebello a lot better.

hope this helps

Hi Mike,
As Art said, it all depends upon the money you want to spend and how nice of a hotel you are looking for. Harold’s was very nice when I stayed there two years ago, Hotel Elizabeth was okay. A bit dated for my tastes, the Waterfront Hotel is also quite nice. Castle Peak stays pretty busy. I live nearby and it always seems to have a lot of people. Seems to be a large number of Koreans staying there and at the Mezzo also which is next door. All of those are fairly close to Ayala.

We stayed at the Marco Polo. Very nice, in fact it was the only thing we liked about Cebu.

I stayed at the Crown Regency on Mactan a few years back and it was good. The only problem was getting from Mactan to Cebu City and back could take a while due to traffic.

im with u....didn't like Cebu at all. Too commercial for me. I actually liked Mindanao the best when I lived there but shortly after we moved the massacre took place . I don't care to go there now at my age.

I live in Cebu. Can't beat Mandarin Plaza or Quest, both are within a few hundred meters of Ayala, so easy to walk. Reasonably priced last time I stayed at either one (around $50-60/nt) 4 years ago so may have gone up. Only problem with Mandarin Plaza are the tile hallways add a little to the noise, not to mention the location, but the rooms are nice. Both have nice restaurants. I think probably Quest is a little bit quieter and the pool is nicer. Im not sure about Parklane, also close. Heard Red Planet isn't bad,a bit cheaper, also within walking distance. Marco Polo is overpriced imho although view is great, but same as my condo, lol. Quite a ways from Ayala with traffic being what it is now, ie. 20-30 min for 3-4km drive. It is all about the traffic now, and how to avoid it, here in Cebu.

Enjoy your trip.
