I am also S/w developer(261313) and I am planning to move to Melbourne in Jan2016. I updated my resume and linked in profile etc etc. But after reading your comment about resume in Australian format and cover letter, I am a bit confused what exactly is Australian style resume and cover letter. Can you please share any link having information about Australian style resume and cover letter.

Also, in India we never used to prepare cover letter. Just upload you resume on job portals and you are flooded with interview calls.

How important is the cover letter? Also please share your approach on preparing the cover letter.
Thanks mate!
Australian resume is not that much different from Indian resume, however it is much more to the point and straightforward. I have few samples which I can share if you need.

We never use cover letter in India, however cover letter is very important when it comes to Australian Job market. It should give interviewer a complete picture of your profile in a concise manner. It should be worded in such a way that it should have personal feel as if you are talking directly with the interviewer and selling your best points. It takes a bit of practice and I suggest you start looking at some samples on the web to get an idea.
