Default Why can't Aussies keep their commitments?

Has anyone else noticed how unprofessional Aussies are when it comes to keeping appointments and commitments? No-one here seems trustworthy. From Telstra engineers, to tradies, to senior managers at major organisations, to estate agents, no one here keeps their bloody word. They don't show for appointments, or meetings, or dates. They look you straight in the eye and say "I'll be here tomorrow at 9" then don't show up. There's no call to say sorry, nothing. They just stand you up. What the hell is that about? I have meetings set by other people, with 10 attendees, and no-one else shows up. Really, this is putting a major negative tint on our feeling for the country. I'm so tired of being treated this way. What's up with it? Why do they do this?

I would say that it is not very common. Maybe you were unlucky in some occasions. I have had few times that people did not show up for appointments but most of the times they do show up. For me the customer services are the worst here in Australia. I have had lots of bad experience with customer services both online and offline. it is very sad for a country like Australia to have so bad customer services compared to other developed countries.

Dang, you nailed it..!!!

Everyone is easy going in this country and nobody rushes in for anything. It took me 1 month to get an Internet at my house last two times (in spite of pre-booking) and it is 40 days and counting in my 3rd move and I'm yet to get connected.

Face the same at work too, there is a sense of urgency created in a meeting and as soon as you step out, everything is forgotten and you realise you are the only one fire-fighting.

I've also seen shops refusing customer 30 mins before closing time, for just a cup of coffee. I'm sorry, it maybe a norm, but I'm not used to it.

It is the easy going attitude mate, for all you know, you will be one amongst them in a while and will start skipping you meeting, just like those 10 who did the same
