Road Deaths up by 17 % last month.

Can't understand why. The French drive so conservatively

Around here the general level of driving is pretty good and polite, the exception being real nutters who endanger everybody. Overtaking on blind corners on a narrow mountain road is not my ideal form of excitement, but it seems to be a local sport.

I live in a small Catalan village with very narrow roads and sharp right angle bends. 99 times / 100 common sense and politeness solves the problem as to who is going to reverse etc....but there is always the blockhead who sounds his horn, shouts and obviously hates his fellow human beings.

Soberly yours....DejW

Thank goodness there are all us law-abiding ex-pats around to set an example ..... never speeding, always got our licenses in order, never so much as a tear drop over the alcohol limit - aren't we wonderful.

Well it has nothing to do with me. My bike has a puncture. Although i do walk rather erratically at times due to trying out ‘the pernod’ that has recently been suggested.

Does one enjoy a jolly good stagger on occasion?

Cyclists are fewer among victims, down on the early summer trend.

Meanwhile, south of the Pyrenees: "Road deaths in Spain fall to a historic low in August"

Statistics concerning reduction of speed limit to 80 kmh tend to show that despite the general rise of 17% in the total number of deaths in August 2019 (partly due to destruction of radars), there has been a reduction in the number of those killed since the change of speed limit.
