Smeg. I often fear that you are right. But, in this case, I hope...

Smeggie, it happened 6 weeks ago ... but I know what you mean.

Nothing will be sorted by the end of the year.

Probably not even this CV mess.

Sorry to resurrect this but I can't quite believe I just read this
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52668846

Why does the UK think that people who were residing by the end of transition, need 27 months to get their application in ???

Because UK Civil Servants are so inefficient! A prime example is HMRC - I send SWMBO's income details to them with my calculation of the NICs due on the 6th April, and I am lucky if I get a reply by the end of July.

Why would you be surprised that they make claims without even referencing specific EU member states (see Gove's letter), but simply set out what the UK has done? Shades of the last phase of negotiations and IMO just an attempt to muddy the waters and blame the EU for anything and everything, including any perceived failure in negotiations.

It is just an example of what the UK government chooses to call negotiation

Negotiations are clearly not proceeding particularly well, not that that is surprising.

Dear Smeg (to frequent derision) is fond of saying Brexit still won’t happen. And it would now seem he is not the only one with that view...

The only person who really wanted Brexit was Dominic Cummings. Cause he is a tw&t with his own agenda. Probably to make money.

Boris Johnson is actually 'pro Europe' (plenty of you tube videos with him telling everyone) but he wanted to be PM. So backing 'Brexit' was a better bet to become PM than supporting 'remain'.

All they had to do is to persuade stupid people to vote for Brexit.

Which they did. With a big red bus telling a lie.

Boris then killed off TM (and her deal) and eventually became PM. Well done Boris.

He then negotiated a worse deal than TM.

They then both ****êd up the UK response to Crono Virus.

What am I saying ?

The wheels of the DC and Boris wagon have fallen off. Less and less people like them (I think they are negative now ????) because they have been exposed as charlatans.

Brexit has happened, but it will be reversed.

I don't believe that.
I don't think Boris Johnson is genuinely pro anything except Boris Johnson.
If it serves his purpose to be seen as pro EU he will say he's pro EU. If not, he won't.
As a journalist he used to make up stories like the bendy banana nonsense and laugh his socks off when the gullible British public believed them "because they read it in the paper". It wasn't harmless fun though because the "false news" he spread even way back then, probably sowed seeds of anti-EU feeling in the UK. He wouldn't have done that if he had been genuinely pro-EU.
The problem for him is that it's not obvious how he can control and exploit the EU, and that's his only criterion for liking something. Anything that's bigger than him, rather than respect it he seems to regard it as a challenge to bring it down.

Well yes, that is a better way of looking at it.

No employer in a million years would employ him to do anything in a company. He is beyond useless.

Why the hell is he running a country ?

Possibly, because a significant percentage of the voters are xenophobic small minded people. While another significant percentage of the voters simply can’t be bothered to get involved and just “carry-on.”
