We can safely say that Trump (******* ) will not be invited back to France ever again.

Whatever you think of Macron and his policies, well put them aside for one minute.

Macron is standing up against Trump. I wish other world leaders would do the same.

Please America, impeach that grotesque creature Trump.

He was supposed to go the the UK and meet the Queen wasn't he, apparently TM promised him a state visit - did that ever happen? Were there protests? Or did it get kicked down the road with everything else? Can't remember how the saga ended now.

Oh he was already in the UK and met the Queen. ("Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat where have you been? I've be to London to visit the Queen....") https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-44826...eets-the-queen

Only he managed to break several protocols within his first few minutes on site.

I figure he was in a funk over the weekend because no one dared to tell him that 11 November is NOT a day for military parades here. (Though there have been many quips online about his aversion to the rain - most referencing that famous scene in the Wizard of Oz...)

I must say, I look forward to living in France where whatever problems there are in politics or govt are not mine. I do not own them. I can observe them and ponder them and eat my popcorn. But that unspeakable Russian-foisted Cheeto and his spineless enablers ....as long as I am here, this is my country and our job to fix this cluster%@#&.

Oops missed that. Or maybe I just forgot. It does ring a faint bell, now you've said it.

The longer you stay, the more the problems do become yours, at least to some extent. When you move somewhere you are not like a guest in a hotel, being served by a system largely invisible to you. It is more like being in a campground where lives intersect and you have expectation others and they of you.

Sorry to say that he will. Macron hosts all sorts of despicable leaders, France does major business with the US, the US is currently THE world power. And who knows which of them will be in office the longest?

Whether Trump would accept is another question altogether. I think it would depend what's in it for him/

Diplomatically the visit was a disaster and both have been responsible. After all, Macron has been very widely reported by the mainstream media as calling for a European army to protect Europe from a, b, c and the US, plus he has avoided responding to the media on the bit about protecting from the US, albeit that now the French Ambassador to the US is saying that he was misreported or misquoted.

And did Macron actually acknowledge US participation in the Great War in his big speech on November 11? I did tend to tune out during the speech, but I have heard that he didn't, or maybe he glossed over it.

Just to be clear, I despise Trump.

completing smeggies topic title:

1 -. Is the best US - World leader in a generation ( since Reagan )
2 - Should have won the Nobel for peace - not these women right campaigners
3. Proves that a business man is a better President than a person who has never worked, ie. Obama
4 - Has a beautiful, younger wife - unlike Macron..
5 - will get elected again.

Do I continue???

Macron thinks France has a say in world politics. that is funny.. They don't even have a say in Brussels. Europe is where they would have been if the US did not get involved in the old countries in WW1 and WW2 - run by the Germans who now have a little, little army... The Norwegians are crashing their navy boats, France is building their one and only aircraft carrier too short - like the chinese, the UK are so desperate they are allowing foreigners to enter there army, belgium, ireland, portugal, holland armies - no comment...You don't here much about Spains or Italys armies - just them picking up migrants from the med.

The US needs to get out of NATO and save their money and let Putin quietly takeover Europe.. The French will surrender? the Germans cannot fight... Easy.

I was busy today so it was late in the day before I saw the various news articles about Trump whining about his weekend in France on Twitter. You just knew he couldn't let it go. Stupid schoolboy nonsense - mentioning Macron's low approval ratings, saying that it was the Secret Service that wouldn't let him fly in the helicopter and that they scotched the idea of "blockading the roads in Paris" to allow him to make the trip by car. (You know "the beast" gets only 5 miles to the gallon - something well over 50 l per 100 km.) And whining again about how France "owed" the US money for NATO - demonstrating yet again that he has no idea how NATO works or is funded.

But I did really appreciate the French response to all that. Some spokesman said that the government just assumes that the tweets were for the American audience exclusively. "After all, they were all in English."

Oh, next time there is a big international meeting in France, they'll have to invite the Americans, but I think someone has at last made the point that it isn't all about Trump. That was just so lovely to watch for a change!
