An excellent publicity stunt, which will hopefully make people think and take a bit more responsibility for the animals they share their lives with.

But I don't think I'd go so far as to say that

Along with the same rights, have they acquired the same responsibilities - not to foul the streets, bark or yowl all night and not scratch the furniture? Hardly seems fair otherwise.
