BTW, look what some of us were talking about 7 years ago...

The scary virus ( before the big one ) was the H1N1 Bird flu, as I had visions of it travelling to other countries
by means of the seasonal bird migration - in fact wherever bird flu did turn up in the UK, there were lockdowns
of poultry farms with farmers losing whole flocks of hens, etc being put down for fear of the contamination
spreading.

I think you will find H1N1 was Swine Flu and there was a vaccine for it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_swine_flu_pandemic

What you are referring to is H5N1.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avian_influenza

I actually caught Swine Flu as I was in the UK for Xmas 2009, physically I am quite a healthy person but that flu clean knocked me off my feet for about 3 weeks and I didn't fully recover for around two months. That was bad enough, I dread to think how this virus could affect me should I catch it.

Staff working for the Passport Office in the UK are being told to return to working in the Office next
week although The Home Office said it will be maintaining social distancing at passport offices.

On Tuesday, staff were told by a Home Office scientific adviser 80% of people would get Covid-19
in the end and "we can't hide away from it forever".

One of the things the government are considering is the obligatory wearing of masks, but how will we get them? Do they have to be regulation masks or any old thing? Are there really enough?

I haven't tried wearing one yet, but can you imagine how uncomfortable and hot wearing a mask will be in the Spanish summer?

I really don't know how doctors and nurses cope with working in all the PPE they have to wear (when they have access to what they need, that is). They are incredible.

Yes, I know a couple of people who have worn one and they said they were uncomfortable and hot so in summer...! Like you I haven't worn one yet, but last Friday I went to the supermarket and most people were wearing something, maybe about 70%

I have worn one when going to supermarket or food shops, it isn’t the most comfortable but if it helps so be it. Ladies no need to put the lippy on!!
