For those who thought the run down to a No Deal Brexit couldn't get any funnier.
Check out this about Britain's decision to leave the Interrail and EU train travel schemes,
only to find that, 24 hours after making the decision - hold on a minute, we
would rather remain in the Interrail and EU train travel schemes.

ITV News - Decision for Britain to leave the Interrail Scheme reversed after 24 hours

Lobbying from rail operators caused the U-turn.

You'd think the govt would have consulted them first ...

Maybe the rail operators assumed the travel scheme was another EU concoction, only to find it wasn't.

So it turns out it has nothing to do with the UK government, the EU or Brexit. The international Interrail scheme is managed in the UK by a private organisation, the Rail Delivery Group. They announced they would be pulling out and setting up their own UK scheme, so international travellers would have to buy two separate passes, but were persuaded that pulling out would have an adverse effect on tourism (and rail operators' profits of course).

Good example of how Brexit is being blamed for everything bad that happens, even if it is totally unrelated?

I go along with this quote from a University Professor, in the same European News link where Brexit is
becoming the excuse for all kinds of price hikes.

"The UK pulling out of Interrail isn't a result of Brexit, but it is Brexit in a nutshell,"
wrote Northumbia University prof Tanja BUeltmann on Twitter.
Instead of offering an inexpensive option for those wanting to travel Europe, utilising pan-European
collaboration, British rail companies want to offer a much more costly BritRail pass alone."

I am totally comfortable blaming Brexit for everything. It is the catalyst that starts all the other reactions, just like a tiny spark can burn down a huge forest, a few charismatics criminals have started the fire that will burn everyone except them because they have moved away from the fire zone and invested in fire extinguishers.

Brexit burnt my toast this morning and Brexit will make sure my grandchildren in the UK afford toast in the future. B to B! #resist

Domestic policies of successive UK Governments.

The loss of manufacturing and pit closures with nothing to replace these industries leading to resentment and the feeling of being left behind and worthless.

Forty odd years of drip drip drip poison by newspapers such as the daily fail, the sun, the express and the torygraph.

Austerity.

Politicians misleading people, making things up and telling outright lies to the badly educated, the uniformed and the gullible for their own greedy ends.

And add to that governments taking major life- changing decisions affecting millions of people without consultation from the 1960s onwards such as so- called slum clearance programmes that changed cities and towns and fractured communities, moving people en masse to dreary ‘new towns’, uprooting families, large scale immigration in the 1960s and 1970s and again from 2004 onwards, the closure of industries which you mentioned and the devastation of the towns these industries served, the widening gap between the wealthy and thevrest.

Some of these changes which mainly affected non- professional working people were necessary and might well have been accepted if done gradually and with community involvement. But over the decades it added up to a them and us feeling, a sense of powerlessness. The referendum was on a non Party political basis and imo was a huge **** you!! to all those politicians, town planners, government advisors who for so long had shaped people’s lives for them.
