Default Computer question

Quite often when i want to watch a video I only get half a soundtrack. What I mean is I get the real sound , but not the voice over. For example, on this video I can hear the noise in the street, a motorbike going by, but not the reporters
Is there anything I can do?

How to spend the night inside the Eiffel Tower - YouTube
Is there anything I can do?
That particular video is unusual in that the background sound is on one side of the stereo and the voice is on the other.

I suspect one side of your stereo isn't working - maybe a speaker is down or unplugged?

Morning!
I wondered if you'd be able to give me an answer
Absolutely right. The left speaker isn't working. I suspect it's just a loose cable somewhere, but it's always happening and I think the speakers are about 20 years old. Time for new ones? What do you think?
However, I am a cheapskate so I wouldn't buy anything fancy, just a basic basic model (I don't listen to music on the computer for example) Do you have any suggestions?

No I use headphones as my laptop is in the living room and OH has the telly on.

Cheap speakers are fine as long as you aren't too fussy about musical sound quality and they very cheap. Your local Chinese emporium should have a selection.

I bought some little wireless headphones recently so I can listen to music/radio while I'm walking about. They are great, they even work in the next room! If your laptop/PC doesn't support bluetooth, you can get a little transmitter that goes into a USB port on the computer. Not expensive.

No, you don't have to have wifi. I used them to listen to music on my phone on a plane last week (though they didn't quite drown out the screaming child in the next row).

Sounds like it's the kind of thing my daughter will be able to advise me on, don't you think?

How much were they approx? Not that I want to walk around particularly but I don't like too much wire on my desk.

And it's all too easy to emulate this...
