I wrote something to someone recently which I knew was absurd (a preposterous solution for a bad situation). In English - I made the suggestion in jest.

Google translate - "made in jest" == "hecho en broma".

Is that a good translation, or is there a better way of saying it ?

Here is another one for you.

What goes around come around.

Kind of like - you reap what you sow (maybe). Anything similar in the Mexican culture ?

Is there a decent book of idioms that answers questions like this ?

The Biblical phrase "you reap what you sow" has a literal translation that is heard at times.

"Cosechas lo que siembras".
