As far as a quick Google search reveals a Permanent Resident of the US isn't granted the rights of a US citizen when it comes to US Embassy or US Consulate intervention when in need of assistance in a foreign country. The country obligated to assist is the country that person is a citizen of. In this case Saudi Arabia not the US. Seems some US politicians just fear and hate Muslims. They can simply ignore this incident instead of starting a bully the Saudis movement if they want without looking bad.
