Default Registered Lease Contract query

Hi,

I have a somewhat specific query that someone here may have some info about, preferably on a first hand basis.

I'm planning on moving to Italy (I'm not an Italian citizen) and so will be applying for a residency visa. One of the requirements is a registered lease contract and I'm planning to stay in an apartment a friend of mine owns in Italy for at least the first year while I decide where to live long term.

The implication, as I read it, is that the lease needs to be an Italian document and as my friend and I both live in Australia, the lease can't be registered in Italy (at least, not easily) so I wanted to know if anyone had any experience submitting documents to the consulate that are registered/notorised outside of Italy?

cheers
webby

Normally the consulate has a notary office.

https://consmelbourne.esteri.it/cons...te-legali.html

For example that shows what the consulate offers to Italian citizens and a link to third parties in the area that can handle it.

BUT a register contract means registered with the tax office. Here

Thanks for the info. Interesting site that last one (the tax office). It suggests that documents can be submitted for registration online. I'll have to look into that.
