Normally kids start school after their 6th birthday so I would get him into a German kindergarten ASAP. He will learn a lot in a year which will help prepare him for regular school. Primary school is quite a schock at the start as it tends to be a short day but quite intensive. If you plan to stay for a long time in Germany this is your best option as your child will integrate quickly and make his own friends around the neighbourhood.
