I am English but my parents were Irish so I have got an Irish passport. My question is could my wife secure an Irish passport through me?

Reason I am asking is we have a property over in Spain but we are 4 years away from retirement and would like to stay longer than will be allowed under the new rules after Brexit

You may want to check over in the Spanish forum here, but there are EU rules that allow non-EU spouses to "join" their EU national spouses in an EU country that is not the country of nationality. (Got that?)

Basically, there are rules that would permit your wife to "join" you in Spain as the spouse of an EU national with all the same rights that you have. It can depend a bit on the purpose of your stay and your situation (as the EU national in the family), but it's generally much easier than bothering with a visa or trying to take an EU nationality in a hurry.
