Hello. I am looking to buy a house in Aubusson, can anyone give me info please on good and bad streets please? I need to be relatively close to town as cannot drive any longer, any pitfalls? Many thanks in advance! James 😀

You should really consider going there, renting yourself a place for at least a month, and doing your own on-the-ground research.

Perhaps if you said how much you have to spend, what size property you need. How big a garden you envisage it might help.

This is what is currently on leboncoin .. but you must remember we're not fully out of lockdown yet so things are only just starting up again.
Offers are often made from 10% to 30% less than the asking price.

https://www.leboncoin.fr/recherche/?...5000&rooms=2-3

There is also Paravendu, ImmoNot and other sites.

Though I think Peasant has the right idea .. go there, stay in a gite and look around the town/area.
Even better go for a few months.

Just to add my agreement with what others have said. You need to go there and rent for a period of time to get a feel for the place. What someone else might like, you might detest. Only you can decide.
If the reason you can't drive is due to age/infirmity, then you might need to think about having a bedroom on the ground floor (or a single storey house), good pavements outside your house, easy access to a doctor/pharmacy/hospital etc.
Looking on Google, Aubusson seems to be in a hilly area and the town has a good few rising/falling streets - not the easiest to get around on foot in your 'golden years' - just a thought.

I think the focus has missed the original question asking if there was anyone here with specific knowledge of Aubusson. It appears, for whatever reasons, OldBlokeInACaravan selected that town and really wants to get some insider information about specific neighborhoods.

Having only been there once myself, for a short visit to the tapestry museum, I cannot really add anything. And, judging from the responses so far, that seems to be the case for others.

But, perhaps there might be some ideas on how OldBlokeInACaravan might find the information he is looking for. I would start by suggesting a call to one or two real-estate agencies asking for general information in preparation for a future move, might help.

Thank you everyone for replies so far, really appreciate them... It is really insider knowledge i need..... maybe from someone who has a house already in or near Aubusson..... My main issue is my mobility isn't brilliant so need to be close to basic facilities, transport, shopping, doctors etc.... My main issue is I've seen some nice properties for sale, but when you go on Street View for example, the areas look run down for example, I don't for example want to end up buying one in a red light ! He he !

I can’t think of anywhere better to live, for example, than in a red light. He he.
