Default Car advice desperately neededed

A close relative who was a British national but lived in France died recently. I am the sole heir. I want to change the registration name on their car so that I can sell it. I tried to do this through ANTs (a nightmare) but learned late in the process that I needed to have a "secured" identity in France, is a social security number.
Can anyone advise any other way of doing this. I do not plan to be in France any time soon (even without the current crisis) so would not be able to visit a large garage there, which I understand might be one way of doing it. Any advice gratefully received.

I thought I heard something about a teeny weeny virus that is happily travelling around the globe and border controls, travel restrictions, etc.

I have no idea how you will be able to handle this in the foreseeable future, but suspect you will have to wait many months before you can sort it out.

Och, I know that - mentioned it in my original post - was just hoping for some advice as to how to proceed after things (hopefully) calm down.

No one knows yet and likely won't for months. Suggest you try re-posting say 4 months from now. Most things are just being put on hold so it shouldn't be an issue.

We had a thread about a BMW a few weeks back. Same story

A relative died and they wanted the car back to the UK.

Anyway, is it worth the hassle ? Is the car worth much ?

You ain't getting it back anytime soon.

Want to sell the car in France as it's registered there and has had its headlights etc altered for France. Worth a fair bit. Been trying to sort this out for months with no joy.

If it is RHD it is not worth a lot.

Unless it is a classic.

Sorry to have to tell you this but as Smeg says unless it's a classic and worth a few bob RHD cars here in France sell for peanuts if they sell at all.
If you really think it's worth that much you would probably be better off taking it back to the UK re registering it there and then selling it.
