Results of Blood Test

Hi, Yesterday my Doctor sent me to a lab for a blood test and I went back to the lab this morning for the results. Now I'm wondering if I have to take these results back to the Doctor or whether he receives a copy. It's a long walk to the Doctor's and it's blowing a gale down here in Occitanie - I woke up this morning and thought I was in Greenock. Thanks if anyone can advise.

My doctor often sends me for blood tests. There are many Labs in this area, Blagnac/Toulouse and they send my doctor a copy via the internet and that is accessable to me also using a secure log on.

Your doctor should also receive a copy. Usually if there is something significant amiss, the doctor (or the doctor's office) will call you to make an appointment. Otherwise you could make an appointment for a day that suits you, say next week - AFAIK Gloria is not expected to hang around for long.

It depends on how the lab is set up.

If they gave you two copies of your results, then you have to take one of those copies in to your doctor. If they only gave you one copy, there is a good chance they already sent the doctor his or her copy.

And, nowadays, they may ask you at the lab for your e-mail address to send you the results. Actually, they send you a link to the secure site where you can see and download your results for a limited time (3 or 6 months, IIRC). In that case, they transmit the results directly to the doctor and the doctor can call up the results on their office computer.

Cheers, everybody.

you can call the doctor to check if he got your results (which is usually the case around where I live) so that you are sure whether to do something or not.

Of course ! (the obvious often escapes me)...Thanks
