It's perfectly all right to file for divorce in the place in which you are resident. Here is the Service Public section on divorce and separation: https://www.service-public.fr/partic...vosdroits/N159

The notaires association in France has information available in English on getting divorced in France: https://www.notaires.fr/en/couple-fa...-types-divorce

I found the procedure a simple one, but I have been unable to find a lawyer who will take me on!
We were married in Britain in 1988 and have been resident in France for 8 years.
We sold the french property and split all of the assets. No dependants and nothing left in our lives that is shared. He returned to the UK, I bought a property in France. We want a divorce by mutual concent. Simple!

I approached lawyers in 4 departments, each gave me the same name of 'the specialist in foreign divorce'. I met with them; they want 1,000 euros up-front to find out if its possible because my situation is complicated!

The monster in the room she says is Brexit (why wouldn't it be?), then the complication of him living in a different country. The meeting was 4 months before the then Brexit deadline!

If you find a simple solution, please share it...

Good luck,
Gypsycob x
